Celebrating the Art of Handcrafting
Keeping alive the heritage practices of our country, we bring to you the art and stories of handicrafts. With a range of carefully curated pieces, we strive to tie together modern fashion with traditional crafts.
Kala cotton is an indigenous strain of rain-fed cotton that was a part of India’s cotton export to Great Britain during colonial rule. A hardy and resilient fibre, it grows naturally even in the arid, drought-prone areas of Kutch.
It imposes minimal demand on scarce water resources and does not require chemical fertilisers or pesticides, making it among the most energy-efficient and carbon neutral crops in the world and making you a contributor to a better environment.
When the local tribes of Rajasthan migrated to Kachchh they brought along an artful leather craft. When cattle died, their raw hides were converted into leather in a rigorous process taking over 15 days.
This craft is now pursued by only a few families who now collaborate with design professionals and have created a market of handmade leather bags which are built on the bedrock of tradition but cater to the tastes of the new consumer.
